The objective of our Heritage Development Programme is to assemble links to existing content and make this available to schools and visitors. We hope to engage them in our shared history.
Our concept is to establish a time-line on which to associate events and cultural changes in the nation's history that St Nicholas has witnessed and are evidenced by the artifacts we hold in trust. The slides below cycle through the Time Line pages we have so far. pages can be accessed through the list below.
By visiting St Nicholas, your time-line now crosses ours, as many countless folks' has done in the past and will continue into the future. The thread that runs back through history is rich in stories, some good, some hard, - all shaping the countryside and buildings we see now. St Nicholas is a slice of history that lives today, where this precious thread can be seen and explained. Perhaps this offers us lessons in how we face the future ?
So dwell a while with us as we construct our Time-Line, weave into it your own story and ponder how the challenges and beliefs of the past have shaped our beliefs today and make us the people we are.
